Last year I had the good fortune to purchase the first A model mandolin built by Gail Hester, a gifted luthier, wonderful person, and Cafe member. The mandolin is A4 modeled after the Gibson Snakehead A4 owned by her husband Chuck. My A4 is a treat for the eyes and had incredible sound from the start, with great volume, deep bass, and ringing highs.
I was back in Gail and Chuck's vicinity, so my wife (also a Gail) and I stopped by to see them. They were glad to see one of their mandolin family return home, and Chuck was pleased to hear how good the mandolin was sounding after a year of playing.
Here's a photo that Chuck took of my wife Gail on the left, Gail Hester, and me beaming with the A4.
Thanks, Gail and Chuck, for the great mandolin and for your continuing friendliness and hospitality.
