Hi fellow mandolinists,
Just in case you happen to find yourself in Chicago tonight (!), Wedn. July 12...stop in to see Orquestra de Samba (http://www.evanstonescola.com/ ) at the Hothouse in downtown Chicago,
31 E. Balbo (http://www.hothouse.net/) . The music starts at 8 pm, Admission is $10. Linda Binder (me) will be playing with them on brazilian mandolin (bandolim), including choros with guitarist Luciano Antonio and Felipe Fraga on pandiero. Other special guests tonight are Breno and Neusa Sauer and pianist Lee Noren. If you're into vintage bossa nova you may know of Breno Sauer's bossa LPs from the 1960's. It's a CD release party for the Orquestra. Sadly, it's also one of the last performances at the Hothouse which has hosted world music for the past 20 years or so in Chicago. They're closing in a few days with hopes to reopen in a new location.
Regards,
Linda
