If it sounds even half as cool as it looks, you've got yourself a monster mando. Congratulations!

Very Nice b.pat--Andrew is commissioned to build a 2 point for me with one piece quilted maple back. #While discussing the specifics with him last week, he suggested that I wait for the photos of yours to decide details regarding color, binding, inlays, etc. #Think I'll borrow from yours if you don't mind--great looking mandolin. #Congratulations.

Just opened the case. #I know I'm going to sound like a sappy teenager, but this is the most beautiful instrument I have ever seen. The pictures on the site don't even begin to show what this thing looks like in person.
#Now for the important part. I'm going to take her home and make her Moan all weekend. I'll let you know if it was good for her too.
# # # # # # # Man what a beauty,

Sorry for the delay Guys. Stupid Job got in the way. [gotta do something about that]
First a little about me so that you will know where this review is comming from. I have played music for a lot of years, but I could never settle on one instrument. Guitar, Mandolin, upright bass, even wasted two perfectly good years on the B%&*@jo Iv'e been away from the mandolin for a couple of years so even my Intermediate skills are a little rusty.
Here goes. This mandolin is so new that the laquer smell will make your eyes water. It has suprisingly good over all volume considering that it is set up with TI starks [my call] The lows and mids are warm and woody. If there is a down side , it seems that I have to play harder to get the tone out of the E corse. This may be the strings or my lack of technique
The overall appearance of this instrument is absolutly stunning The combination of the lethery top and blond quilted body is really remarkable. All the inlay and binding work is first rate. The radius board and large frets play like a dream.
What do I really think? Well I'm back on the list.
[Now do I want a matching F4 or an A style]
Great work Andrew,
B.Pat

Just a short update.
After a week of trying to correct what I took to be a muted sound of the first [E] corse I was about to decide that it was all in my head. Different strings [3 sets], raised action, nothing seemed to make a difference . Then I noticed that the small post ment to support the pickguard, seemed to fit very tightly on the sound board just above the F holes. In fact it took both hands to apply enough pressure to the bottom of the pick guard to raise it from the top.
Took the pick guard off , a little sanding to shorten the post and,,,,,,,
man what a change The highs ring like a bell. The whole mandolin just came alive. If there is anyone out there that thinks that posting up with your fingers doesn't make a difference, you shoud have witnessed the change in this mandolin.
Can you fall in love with an inanimate object? Well I have. Either that, or just maybe this beauty isn't as inanimate as I thought.

b.pat,
And to think Andrew's only up to #006!
I had the same experience with an Orreco tailpiece that was touching the top. A little bit of filing and the mando really had an improvement. So, are you considering getting a ToneGuard for your Driftwood??
