Howdy,

The family and I will be spending 7-10 days in and around beautiful Bucyrus, OH the end of June and early July.

Just wondered if there's any good things going on musically that I could catch while I'm up that way, especially with regard to bluegrass, old-time, folk, etc.

Thanks.

Most Ohio bluegrass events I know about are in Columbus or points south. #For the Bucyrus area, you might check out the Buckeye Bluegrass site: #http://www.buckeyebluegrass.com/ - they have a list of shows and festivals in Northwest Ohio: http://www.buckeyebluegrass.com/bb-shows-nw.html

The Central Ohio Bluegrass Association also probably lists events in the Bucyrus area: #http://www.centralohiobluegrass.com/about-COBA.html .

How far afield from Bucyrus are you willing to travel? #The Famous Old-Time Music Store is about 80 miles away: http://www.fotmc.com/ .

There is a jam at the Bluegrass Musician's Supply on S High St every Saturday- kind of hit and miss as to wether it will be worth-while or not. But, Ray Sparks has a repair/build shop close to there on E Markison St, and you can hang out there and look at his stuff and spontaneous jams erupt from time to time, as you never know who might drop in. He builds a pretty decent mandolin and usually has a few in various stages of completion. There is also a bunch of Old Time Fiddler Buddy Thomas freaks around Columbus. I believe they have a discussion board online, or so I've heard. Do a Buddy Thomas search? Just some ideas for you.
