Im retired and up until Dec last year was playing with 4 local bands . Now 2 of those bands are on Hiatus.at least for the summer so Im not playing near as much. I find that if I dont play out at least once or twice a week I get real antsy Im the same way about traveling like Willie On the road again lol. Any other band players get this way ? http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif

Yeah, but kind of like the urge to exercise, I sit down until it passes. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Actually, I do know what you mean. #Staying busy and feeling like you're doing something worthwhile are important.

When I need to play more than bands or jams allow, I pull up a tune I don't know and learn it. #Or I'll try to get my head into some new music. #This is how perfectly good Bluegrass musicians learn jazz and choro. #http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Yup, absolutely! Take that time to put a new tune together or learn a new twist on an old one.

Back in the last century I was playing regularly with a band, usually about 3 nights a week. All my weekends were taken up with playing or rehearsing. All my friends forgot about me and didn't bother to try to invite me to weekend social functions, I was always busy.
Then the band broke up and I felt like I had nothing to do. Nobody invited me to anything on weekends. I was at a loss.
Gradually, I found ways to fill up the time, and it wasn't long until I couldn't see how I ever had time to play with a band.
