this is Will's latest mandolin an F5-OV, its a more traditional style than his most recent F5's with the flat board, extension and smaller frets.
Varnish finish, Adirondack top, Sugar Maple back and rims, Parsons ebony bridge and fretboard.
Its a really great sounding mandolin, balanced tone all the way up the neck and really loud.

and the back and the scroll. the back picture really shows the color and the burst better, although the outside of it isn't as black as it looks (you can tell in the scroll shot).

this was the first time Will used this particular style tailpiece, and it wasn't flush with the butt-end of the mandolin so he made this ebony insert to solve the problem

Cooper,
Out of curiosity, what is the grey surface your mandolin is laying on? Is it slate?
Thanks,
Bill
Edit: excuse my rudeness. Beautiful instrument!

Brad-
I'm not sure what his serial number system is, if you have the number post it or PM me with it and I'll find out when I go over there on Tuesday or Wednesday (I'll also check on that background for you, Bill.)
I wonder if it was one of his newer ones you played and if it had his more modern appointments or one of his more traditional ones? He's making some great mandolins right now, and they have only been getting better. I'll have some pics of his newest one in a day or two as well, its a little different but still a looker (it doesn't sound too shabby, either)

here's the latest one on the bench, this one is Will's more modern design. It sound every bit as good as the one pictured above, another great mando. I'll put some more up when he gets it finished

Will builds a mighty fine mandolin indeed. He is also an incredible banjo player. Have you heard him play finger style guitar ?? He nails Jerry Reed's style !!! He's one heck of a fine fellow too !!
