I am considering a Kentucky KM-855 and have been pretty impressed with the quality and the initial sound. I believe this is a fairly new model ... has anyone else purchased or tried one?

i wouldn't go any less than the 1000.

The KM-855 is getting up there far enough that the KM-1000 is only a little more money, and a whole lot more mandolin. Of course, you have to draw the line somewhere. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Thanks for the KM-1000 marketing. Problem is ... I've been able to at least play a KM-855 whereas the KM-1000 is at least 6 months backordered. Original question ... has anyone played or does anybody own an 855? My $.02 ... it looks good, sounds traditional and woody. You can hear it open up as you play it. My friend who played the NAMM KM-1000 for a couple of hours in a BG jam was quite pleased with it (855). Part of my reason for asking is that I have seen very little information about them on the net and would like to hear other reviews. Thanks in advance.

there is a reason why it is backordered. i doubt the 855 holds a candle to it.

There is 2 KM-1000s at Mandolin brothers, and others if you call Saga and just ask which dealers they went to. Gryphon music in California has one, and Harry and Jennie West in North Carolina has one..............very simple..just give em a call.
