I just strung this up a few days ago, and I am very happy with it. This is my first oval hole, and I was quite pleased with the rich low end. It will be hard to take it all apart and finish it.
This link shows the entire building process with two sound clips at the bottom of the second page.

Great A4!! Fantabulous for the first. The sound reminds me of an old Gibson oval. My next mandolin will be an oval. Since I don't have one with a scroll I may get a hybrid F4. Although an A4 is a very good possibility. Great job on #1. More pics after you dress it up. ---- BTW The rosette looks like one of Gail Hester's --- very nice touch. Lp

Great looking mando! I really love the look of the oval hole A's. Love that top wood too, great grain.

All I can say is 'DITTO' to what Ken said! #http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Mark, that is one beautiful mando - looks and tone. From one old Great Plains flatlander to another: congratulations!

Very beautiful indeed.
A classic blond finish perhaps?

I want it, I want it.
It's not even as if I could sell a kidney with the amount of rough english cider I have drunk over the years.
Bugger!!
