This has absolutely no mando content, but....

My second son passed his Eagle Scout Board of Review tonight!!! #He's about 15 1/2 years old. #

His older brother made Eagle just over 2 years ago, and my youngest son just bridged from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts. #They really are turning out to be fine young men, despite having me for a dad!!

(yes, that's me on the left, and my wife on the right)

I had lots of good times with my dad in Boy Scouts. My brother and I both made Eagle Scout. He was a proud pappa too. Congrats to both you and your son!

That's great! I really enjoyed Scouts and hope to do that with my son.

Congradulations to Eagle Scout #2 for a hard job well done, and to Kent and Mrs. Barnes for their support of their sons and to the programs of the BSA. I believe Mrs. Barnes deserves a mandolin too.

Kent - Congrats to you and your sons. I'm sure the youngest will follow in his older brothers' footsteps!

I was a Boy Scout (though I never made Eagle - Life was the highest I achieved) as was my own son - now 20.

I have no doubt Scouting DOES build character!

Congrats - huge accomplishment and committment.

Your #2 son is a clone of his mother - geez! (that's a good thing http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif )

Kent, Congratulations! Getting two through the Eagle program is quite an accomplishment! One week from tonight, we go the Eagle Banquet as my 16 yo son just completed his requirements too! Steady encouragement is all it took - ha.

Our scoutmaster reminds all the dads to encourage the boys to get their Eagle completed before they get into the "fumes" - perfume and gasoline that is. . . .

Another assistent scoutmater let's friends of the family know what to get the newly-Eagled scout: Nothing. He recommends a day at the day spa for the moms and a box of cigars for the dads - for that's where alot of the scouting is accomplished (i.e., driving, encouraging, etc.).

fatt I-just-wasn't-sure-it-would-ever-happen dad

p.s., I take my mandolin to all scouting campouts.

Thanks everyone! I was a Cub Scout, but never even made it into Webelos. My wife comes from a family of Scouters. Both of her brothers were Eagle Scouts, and her dad was a Scoutmaster. I've been involved for about 8-1/2 years so far, with a few more to go!

Brandt - yes, I'm VERY happy that my kids look like their mom!!

Fatt-Dad - I've taken my mando on a couple of campouts. It's great for keeping the critters away (and most everyone else!!).
