Heads up folks, I just added10 new Nuggets (http://www.mandolinarchive.com/perl/updates.pl) to the mandolin archive from a big stack of images that Mike Kemnitzer very kindly provided.

Included in this update are 252-255 and 260. All examples of Mike's recent work and just jaw-dropping in their sheer completeness and beauty. I was especially awed by this image of the back of #250, not scaled down any more than absolutely necessary:

Here's the top of that Nugget:

This also marks the 3,500th entry in The Mandolin archive (http://www.mandolinarchive.com), which now also contains 7,012 images. I'm not sure quite how I keep doing this, but it's moments like this when I see something astounding from Mike that I remember why!

I want a Nugget so much I could spit. Unfortunately, its not going to happen in this life time. Still, in my opinion these are perfection in mandolins.

so far the rule seems to be that I had to have (however briefly!) owned one http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Seriously I just barely have enough time to keep these up, and I'm completely swamped trying to input the Gibson data. Probably won't happen in the near future anyway

Dan I am sure sometimes you get tired, and wonder why you do this. But let me tell you I for one, and I think I am speaking for many people really enjoy the archives. You have done something that will be around forever. You should be very proud of yourself. I spend alot of time in the archives, and I thank you.

Gibson man is right on, the pictures stuffed away in the archive are lessons in themselves. All the little details are there for you to find !

I'll be perfectly honest and say i'm not a terribly huge fan of the standard Gibson F-5, however, Nugget is THE guy that should write the book. Listening to the Loarfest files that are here on the cafe, it's great hearing how soft spoken Mike Kemnitzer is. You can count these guys on one hand.

I got pictures to go look at !!

Hats off to ya Dan

The Nugget that is pictured in the first two post is the most beautiful mando I have ever seen. That sunburst is perfect. Except the top is side bound and the back is top bound. Are the pics mixed up

I hear ya! Everything is easy if you have not done it http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
Well my point was more that with any website keeping them running and updated is much more the success factor than the starting of it
