As you may know, carbon fiber is notoriously challenging to finish, but Larry Sweeney has succeeded. This is our first burst carbon fiber mandolin and it's stunningly gorgeous! We're working on a blueburst now and I can hardly wait.....

That's nice Peter. You could probably give the blue a miss though! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Peter,
Are you folks bringing any mandolins to Merlefest this year?

I think the blueburst will be extremely beautiful. Several of them are on order already.

We're hoping to have mandolins at Merle Fest. It's just amatter of timing...
cheers, Peter

How do you load the strings onto the tailpiece? Is it a flip up cover?

Oh, that's just great. Now my daughter's never gonna get braces, and all through her adult life she'll be cursing Peter for her crooked teeth.

The tailpiece is by Bill James and does indeed have a hinged cover. The new version will have "Tom&Tony" engraved in the banner at the top of the tailpiece in honor of Tom Mix and his Wonder Horse, Tony. I was going to use "Tom&Tony Ride Again", but it wouldn't fit. Darn the luck!

For the love of all that is holy make friends with someone who has an off camera flash http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I love your mandos, but we need some better pics to drool over. PM me and I can walk you through taking a daylight pic that doesn't have the reflections in the tailpiece and whatnot. If you have a pop up flash check this out:

Love your mandos...not trying to sound harsh...but I want to see them because they seem pretty http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
