I am extremely interested in buying one of these for my good old Yellowstone and I know that there are lots of unique color combinations out there...so if you have one post a pic!! The bad news is, Sam won't be taking orders for a while http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif ...

Here is my old pegasus case. Pegasus cases rule and IMO are the best case around. Unfortunately my Tucker F-5 did not fit exactly right since the Tucker has a thicker scroll. The Pegasus will fit 95 percent of all mandolins though.

Here is mine, from his first batch of A model cases. I posted this some time back, but can't find it in a search, so I hope its ok to post it again. How long are things kept on the message board before they disappear?

Anyhow, I like the case a lot, you can see the storage space under the peghead, where I have cable for my tuner, a can of flatpicks, a little string klipper and a set of strings. The other storage in under the neck support, which is perfect for a little Korg tuner and a nail clipper. The only minus is that there is not much strap room. I have lately been taking the strap off, folding it and putting it above the peghead. The place where I had in in the picture was not good for the lining on the top.

I also like the carrying strap, it is a pleasure to have both hands free for something else.

I went for more modest colors.

Here's my blue (w/ dark blue inside). Purchased used right here on the cafe'.

Keeps my Stinnett nice and safe, and the tone guard fits fine.

Darryl: that has to be the coolest photo of a Fern Loar in a Peg. case. Between the bubblegum pink carpet and the framed Pickin Fern poster in the background overshadowed by the original Loar case standing proudly it's just cool.
The two tone royal purple/burgandy interior on black exterior is one pretty Peg. case.

Off the topic a bit, LilCreekster, what kind of wood flooring is that? We will be doing some changes to the homestead soon and that caught my eye.

I think that the Pegasus cases are too cool! Trouble is: They guit making them for a while. What's that all about? It would seem that if demand is up that arrangements could be made.
OK Does anyone know another brand LIKE the Pegasus case?
Does any of you make(or can make) anything like a Pegasus case?
Maybe someone makes a knock-off version.?

Pure and simple...Sam is a victim of his own success. Thru word of mouth the Peg cases are recognized as perhaps the best stringed instrument cases in the world.
He is getting caught up on his orders so he can get back taking new orders again.
I've been waiting for mine for a few months, and honestly, am not in a terrific hurry. Sam told me he could meet whatever deadline I gave him, but I'm not inclined to press him when I can wait a while. Since I don't have the picture yet, mine will have an off-white shell with a custom tartan interior.

whats the going rate for a pegasus? and how are the caltons?

Rich Michaud
May-30-2004, 6:29pm
I don't think Sam who makes the Pegasus has fine tuned his pricing. #That being said, the price should be in the $500 plus range. #The Caltons are great cases as well and are more available. #They are boxier and not as convenient but are solid as can be except that a larger headstock is tight raising a breakage concern. #Nevertheless, it is one of the best on the market. #Then you can have the case covered with a case cover...
