Hi Everyone!

Andrew Mowry is building my first custom hand built mandolin. It is a two point flat top for use in my Celtic and South American musical explorations. Here are some pics!

As you can see...it will be able to be electrified too for when I really want to rock out...

What are the electronics? Not having advanced much beyond purely acoustic in the past sixty some years, and now finding myself interested, I'm on a learning curve for something to build for myself.

Very nice indeed - I love that bubinga! Do I detect a slight arch to the top and back?

You picked the right luthier Ralian . I like the way the back braces are let into the kerfing. I ALWAYS look forward to seeing Andrews work, but definetly have a keen eye on this one. It's not just another F and Bubinga is BEAUTIFUL under a finish !

Yes, this mandolin was partially inspired by my Gibson CL-30 guitar. It has bubinga back and sides and first off I love the guitars sound...very full rich and balanced, secondly the bubinga looks fantastic!

This mandolin is going to get a lot of miles once I get her, watch for her at Irish jams and "other" shows between West Viriginia and Asheville NC!

There is an induced arch in the front and back, and if I recall, the pickup is this one:

Hopefully Andrew will read this and correct any mistakes I've made.

I'll post more pictures as the mando is completed, and a sound clip of it once I get it into my studio! It may seem unique now, but wait until you see the whole thing completed. It will be even more interesting. (wink)

Ryan very nice mandolin. Leave it all to Andrew and he'll craft you a keeper. Looks as if he is well on the way! Lp

Cool! Andrew sure knows where to find beautiful wood- and then he knows what to do with it!

What's the color going to be?? Bubinga looks great slightly reddish- go for the Jethro colors! The two-points already match.

The finish on the back and sides will be natural to let the wood show through. I'm having an antique amber burst finish on the top. It will be a very sweet looking instrument. And I can't wait to play it!

Just a few more months now!
