I live in central Alabama and need to find someone to do a set-up on my Weber F5-Fern. I could drive to the Nashville or Atlanta area if necessary. #Any recommendations would be appreciated. #Thanks.

Check out the Mando Voodoo by Stephen Perry here. (http://www.mandovoodoo.com/) I recommend him. Seach the Cafe' for mando voodoo for other testimonials, further descriptions, etc. No Financial Interest (NFI) for me, I'm jsut a satisfied customer.

Our facility at Opry Mills Mall in Nashville is as good as it gets. Our team of luthiers are not only great luthiers, but also great mandolin players. That truly helps.

If you take it to Big Joe, you'll have to put black electrical tape over the name though. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif or not! Just kidding Joe.

I was going to suggest Duck Tape, but I always wondered about that. Why would someone want to tape a Duck anyway??? http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif .

Hey, Joe. The simple answer is to keep it's feathers from molting. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

You would be surprised as to how many people do refer to it as "duck" tape.

Well, it IS. (http://www.duckproducts.com/products/subcategory.asp?CatID=1&SubID=1)

Duck tape as in 'waterproof'.

As stated in the write-up, it was referred to as "duck" tape. This company is playing off the word since its their company name.

Generally, it's known as "duct" tape - refer here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duct_tape).

FWIW, when I was in the military, specifically the Navy, we never referred to it as "duck" or "duct" tape, it was 100 MPH tape.

Well certainly, but the original name WAS duck tape, not duct tape. It was developed for munitions boxes in WWII, and the like. Duck brand duct tape is typically regarded as the best stuff in the business today. 'Generally' it is known as both duct and duck tape, depending on where you are geographically located.

P.S. Duct tape is not used on ducts, generally speaking, either. It sucks for that use, as the adhesive tends to dry out under the cold/hot cycling. Ducts are sealed, generally, with aluminum tape.

P.P.S. What any of this has to do with a mandolin setup, I'm not sure.

Joe, clearly you haven't had to listen to ducks landing in a river behind your house. (annoying beasts. . . . now what did I do with that shotgun). # http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

or were you meaning record them, in which case I'm also at a loss. #

I appreciate all the input. I didn't really think along the lines of duck tape when I asked the question, but did find the information, well, information. I noticed that the Kaufman Kamp has luthier's on staff. For those that have attended in the past, do they have time to do a set-up during the camp?
