I have a mando on order and am thinking of Waverlys with alternating pearl and black pearl tuners. I know that this is not traditional but I like the look. Does anyone else share my view? I thought I saw the same look on a Monteleone that was for sale here a while back although it might have been ebony and pearl. Where do you get black pearl for tuners?

Good luck in trying to find 'black pearl' thick enough to make buttons with. You might try Rescue Pearl for solid black pearl slabs, and epoxy it together to build enough thickness for this project.

Waverly now offers black pearl buttons for their guitar tuners

Want to make your own? I could check the Tucson gem show for black pearl, as it's going on now.

I followed up with Waverly (Stewart-McDonald)-no black pearl for mandos although they have them for guitars. I will keep looking.
