Every so often I get one of these in my email:

This email Generated by the Mandolin Cafe Message Board - check the
address before you reply. Mail sent to admin accounts
@mandolincafe.net are not related to the original sender. You must
reply to them from the message board. Read the message below:

Hi,
You have been sent this email from Your Name.
Your Name thought that you might want to take a look at the bulletin
board, Mandolin Cafe Message Board
(http://www.mandolincafe.net/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi).
This email was sent via Mandolin Cafe Message Board from" [insert my address]

Have I got a setting set wrong or what?

I have never received anything similar.

Go to Your Control Panel / E-mail settings and you will see a box that says Send me and e-mail when someone has sent me a private message.

Just uncheck that box to not receive them anymore.

Never had it set to send me boo.
But nevermind, ST is on it.

Actually, it looks like you might have (accidentally?) clicked on the "Go" button on the bottom right-hand corner of the main Messageboard page. What this does is to send an invite like the one above from you to another e-mail address. It may default to using your own e-mail address for sender and recipient if you don't enter anything explicitly.
