Well here is pic of me with my new BEST Friends. I don't know if they know that though. This was at the Wichita Winter Bluegrass Festival. These guys were simply amazing. They were able to get so much music out of two instruments that has so much soul in it.
Well I have to go practice now.

Mike is wearing his Pointer bibs. He and I decided that if Bill Monroe wore bibs, he either wore Pointers or Red Camel.

Well the Big Mon might of wore Pointers but my dad was a Big Smith man and I inherited his when he died last year. Wearing his overalls brings back good memories of him and maybe they help me channel just a little of that Compton mojo. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Mine also!
But, maybe there is a reason Taterbug is hiding from the camera?
And, for the record, I am wearing black Pointer bibs.

Hey anybody thats got an instrument as big as his doesn't need to hide. When he whipped that big thing out all I could think was Oh My! #http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif

Is that a Kimble octave? Mike plays a lot of octave on the Stomp CD but it was one of Grisman's mandolas strung up as a very short scale octave. I'll bet it would have sounded even better with a little longer scale instrument.

'Twas indeed and sounded even better than it looked if you can imagine.
