Hi,

Ricardo from the Podcast Miscelânea Vanguardiosa sent me info on some Choro School videos (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UETADUO5Lxo)that he found on YouTube. He has links to them also on his website. (http://www.miscvanguard.blogspot.com/)

You can pick from all the videos on this page. (http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=feliperama)

Here's a bit of his explanation from his webpage: On today's video, I'd like to introduce you to Escola Portátil de Música, also known as the "Choro School", in Rio de Janeiro. It's an educational project supported by Petrobras that features courses with some of Choro's contemporary masters (Oscar Bolão and Maurício Carrilho, for exemple). Courses include instrument classes, harmony, group practice, compositions and many others.

The video features the school Bandão (big band) a practice that happens after the classes, putting together all the students outside (at the school garden) to play some beautiful arrangements that they learn during the courses. The tune is "Canto do Rio", composed and arranged by Maurício Carrilho, teacher and one of the creators of this project. The video was made using a home camera, but you can have a perfect picture of what happens in this great school.

I hope to attend someday-would be an amazing experience!
