I just bought a Fender 5-string and can work out chords and scales and variations on some tunes I know but would like to know if there are any instruction books for non-beginner players, or where to find information about the instruments. #I prefer standard notation to tablature and am interested in jazz blues folk and country, all roots-based music really. #In UK. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif

The Tiny Moore book would be good. 'Tis out of print, but comes up often on eBay.

You get to blend tenor banjo stuff with mandolin/fiddle tunes .
FWIW:Classical Viola charts have their own clef, [ middle C (piano) is the one on the G string ,4th fret.]
the next C is the one on the middle line of the staff (Guido's middle finger)(B in treble clef)
