Honestly the picture of the back does not do it justice. This instrument has hardly been played and certainly not opened up and I would say that it is already the best sounding instrument that I have, no faint praise. The tone is simply awesome. Due to the strong midrange, there is one register, not a high and low like most mandolins that I have played. I will give a more complete review after about a month of playing.

Congrats on your new mando. I played Charles Johnson's Stanley F-5 once and thougt it was a great sounding and powerful instrument. Chuck

Welcome to the club of happy Stanley owners! The really fun part is seeing how it will get better and better as time goes by.

I don't have the money for an F, but I might be able to swing an A.
Sweet.

Shayne,
How did it compare with your F5? Just curious.

Shayne, that was exactly what I was asking, Stanley A vs F. Excuse me for not being more precise. I forget what a managerie you have.

Thanks, Puke!
I'm experiencing that looseness right now with my brand new Pomeroy two-point. The fingerboard i svery loose, compared to my Weber, which is very tight. However, teh trade off is that I get a bassy, sort of humming softer tone from the Pomeroy, and I get a high octane attacking sound from the Weber.
That Pomeroy is incredibly pretty. On the other hand, I've never heard something as powerful as that Weber.

Shayne, I could not agree more. I like the looseness analogy. It feels like it is well worn and is comfortable. Sounds great out the box too.
