I just discovered this site:

http://www.mandolinproject.150m.com/

Looks like a wonderful idea.. but why did it die? Is anyone doing anything like this now? I would definitely be willing to contribute my webspace or time to get something like this going again.

hey guys, thanks for the renewed enthusiasm. i own the Mandolin Project (MP) site, but have let it fall to the way side over the past year due to other life priorities. i've got a little more time now and would like to rekindle things. it was actually pretty fun when people were into it. it kept me motivated to learn new tunes--gave me a goal.

i'll set up a poll for a new tune to learn for January 2007. it'd be good way to kick off the new year.

cheers

I was a longtime spectator of your site Craig and enjoyed listening to the players.
If you start it up again I think I will try to use it as a motivator to learn some more tunes.
I am sure it will do my playing some good.

I was/am a member and learned a lot of songs. I definitely would like for it to be rekindled!

why don't we learn Old Joe Clark for January 2007 since only one ambitious soul recorded it so far. it's a good classic that everyone should know. for the February song i'll set up a poll as usual.

i was/am a member too and may be the 'one ambitious soul' to record the last tune....i've wondered too about its' demise....it was a great learning tool - i'd never heard most of the tunes we did, kept me w/a monthly goal and i'd encourage more people to join up and record...whatever your level of expertise....
more comments made about the recordings would be good too..
glad it may be coming back

fiddlingdan,

check out my web-site below to see how to join. you basically just need to sign up with yahoo and join the group there. this is mainly so you can vote in the monthly poll and upload your recordings. you can e-mail me or PM me if you have any additional questions.

I'm still waiting on approval at the Yahoo Group site...it says "Membership Pending", and won't allow me to view anything.
