I ordered it. However, it did not arrive before I left town on a trip. It should be at home when I return.

I will post a "quality report" ASAP.

A+
I saw it and lived it. 2/3 was filmed at Grey Fox in NY and 1/3 at IBMA. That year at Grey Fox we got 8" of rain overnight. My poor tent http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
The filming is pretty unique in that all the camera men had to be right on stage because of the rain. This resulted in really, really, great shots -you'll see.
Close ups of Thile for example looking from the bottom of the mando going towards the top of the neck. -and jammin' as he's pickin' with superpickers -not with nickel creek. Lots of great interviews mostly of Tim O'brien and the guys from Buddy Merium and Backroads.

I got it through County Sales -- $25 + shipping.

I thought the sound quality was excellent. Great performances. About the 3rd viewing I started skipping to the specific performance sections. Loved anthing with Jerry Douglas, Chris Thile, Chris/Jerry, Del McCoury Band, Tim O'Brien. Good workshop jam on Bluegrass Stomp with mando's by Tim O'Brien, Ronnie McCoury and Chris Thile.

The IBMA scenes show Don Stiernberg with John Carlini in one of the hotel rooms jamming, Don Rigsby and buddies (including Rickie Simpkins, I believe).

You won't be disappointed, although some of the talk-overs intrude on the music. I'm loaning it to my resophonic guitar buddy tonight so he can drool over the Jerry Douglas cuts.

I DO believe that's "The King of Bluegrass" playin' that guitar directly under the pic of Mssr. Monroe. May God bless the King! - His "contributions" need never be questioned. "Often copied..., never equalled". Just IMHO. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif

Hi all: We became aware of this thread at Mandolin café. Thanks for the nice comments. We thought we'd add a note from us to give some of the low-down:
By now you may have heard: BLUEGRASS JOURNEY has been recently released on DVD & on video tape.

BLUEGRASS JOURNEY is a feature length, documentary film portrait of the contemporary bluegrass music scene. Here's how it was described by one film festival that recently screened it: "Depicting the fervent scene that is modern bluegrass, this impressive documentary captures high intensity performances from some of America's greatest contemporary acts... ; [the] filmmakers... brilliantly combine backstage footage, interviews, and extended performances to make a lovingly detailed portrait of the music and those at the forefront of making it." - The 2004 Florida Film Festival

The film features, among others, the Del McCoury Band, Peter Rowan, Tim O'Brien, Tony Rice, Jerry Douglas, Rhonda Vincent, Nickel Creek, and Pete Wernick. As to the mando, Chris Thile is all over the film, as is Ronnie McCoury. Also Tim O'Brien, playing mando and his other instruments. Also Don Rigsby. And lots of great bluegrass from the above artists and others.

Please see the film's website, www.bluegrassjourney.com for more information.

The DVD & VHS are not, as yet, available in stores. Individual copies of the film may be ordered directly from Blue Stores Films, on which label the film has been released. To order a copy, with links for online credit card payments and info for ordering by mail, please go to the BLUEGRASS JOURNEY website. You can click on this link,
