Hi all,
I just purchased a set of oud strings and put them onto my mandolin.
The sound is nice, and the string tension is much easier on my left hand. However, I had to tune it CGDA instead of GDAE because the oud strings are made for a longer neck.
The oud set came with 5 courses of strings. I used #5 as the lowest course all the way up to #2 as the highest course.
If I had to do it all over again, I would use #4 as the lowest course all the way up to #1 as the highest course. I think that would let me tune it GDAE without breaking any strings.
