Hey Don....Congrats..... but don't quit that day job just yet!
Tough to earn a livin' as a BG mando player. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

You bet it is. A top-notch, well-known mando player in a well-known band told me he earned $45k per year. No health insurance, travel ALL the time, odd hours, deal with the bus, weather, fans wanting to hear 'Rocky Top', and other hardships. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

God he's making three times more than me and gets to ride in a bus http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

Thanks, guys. Wish I'd have heard from you before I quit my job today. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

The podcasts are fun. I'm working on a new one and I hope to have it ready by Sunday or Monday.

Don,
I tried downloading your podcasts from iTunes, the 1st was fine but the 2nd was only 1:22 minutes long?

I'm not sure what's up with that. When I went to download it in iTunes, it only showed 1:07, but when it downloaded the full 17 minutes came through? It's also available from our website.

I retried the iTunes and it looks like it is DLing the entire 20.5M file even though it showed 1:01 minutes this time.

edit: sounds great BTW!

Just got a new podcast up. You'd never think a band named Raising Cane would get asked to do a gospel set. But we did, and the new podcast features some of our gospel set. It should be up on iTunes tomorrow if I did it right.

Thanks for the comments guys. It's great to see you playing and recording your own tunes too.

Wanted to send out kudos to Don and an excellent CD and one I'd strongly recommend any Cafe member to get as a stocking stuffer this year.

By the way, I saw that review in BU. Just so happens, I believe that was the same issue that I had my first graphic design job nationally/internationally published. I was hired about 6 months back to develop a logo for Old Time Mandolin Radio, an internet radio program. I opened up last months' BU to see my ad (somewhere in the first 1/4 of the magazine). Not the greatest design ever, but myself and the client were happy.

So between my ad and Don's excellent review, it was a very significant issue--a collector's item in fact.

We just got our CD on iTunes! Just go to the iTunes Music Store and search for Raising Cane. The CD will show up as well as the podcasts. Made my day!
