I have a Sept 01 Master Model. On the pickguard is stamped "PAT.MAR.30.'09" while there is a date on the label inside that reads "Patented Mar.30.1906-".

Anybody know what the patent dates pertain to? Interesting that they are on the same date but different year.

The pickguard was patented in 09. The 06 date is probably the body shape/style..will check

What's up with the July 4, 1911 patent (as long as we're asking)? I mean imagine getting a patent on a holiday in this day and age - ha.

and the answer is....

Although the signing of the declaration was not completed until August 1776, the Fourth of July holiday has been accepted as the official anniversary of U.S. independence. It was not declared a legal holiday until 1941, however. Today it is celebrated in all states and territories of the United States.

and we are referring to the date that the pickguard clamp was patented

Here's the earliest patent stamp I know of, April '21 '00. This is on 3376, an A3 I used to have that dates to approx 1904

yes - and I kind of figured a story like this, but it shows yet again how the times have changed.
