that has to be the worst wax museum i have ever seen!

Apr-23-2004, 3:06pm
I think they are going out of business becaise they can't pay the bills on the wax used to make the Dolly Parton likeness.

Based on the above pics/likenesses.., I would guess they are definitely NO competition for The Waxworks of London - wonder who their "sculptor" is - probaly "scab-labor"!!## = I'll never make it.. but I certainly would be "insulted" if I were "done' akin to THOSE likenesses... The wax figures of both Bill and Buck do look rather transgendered. Bill's also looks much like corpses look like when they're on display. I do not wish to be displayed when I die (unless they can make me look better!).

I really like the fact that Don Williams comes with the cigs!

This is like the night of the living dead. Check out Marty Robbins! Maybe they'll throw in Mr. Bill's famous mandolin.

They are horrible, but I wouldn't mind having them if I had nothing better to do with my money.

I can't believe someone is actually willing to pay a lot of money for all these. #i would buy them if they had a wick in their head and maybe throw them in an emergency kit in the house and use them as a candles during power outages... as least they would burn for a long time...

Put a beard on Mr. Monroe and he'd be Robert E. Lee. Maybe someone could all convert these guys to old Confederates and have a Civil War wax museum.

Thanks for #creeping me out first thing monday morning. Haven't even had coffee yet. #

My sentiments exactly! Man that's one scary looking collection. Randy Travis looks like a cross between Quentin Tarantino and Frankenstien. And how did Bob Wills make such sweet music when his technique is so atrocious? #http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif

They may have something going here. Recycle candle stubs make some bad likenesses and auction them off. I'll chip in some wax. Who's our resident artist? Might be a gold mine in this. John http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

I want to know who has bid $200,000 for this crap. Actually, I bet you could make some money with this in Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg or Branson....maybe even Vegas?? http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif

Good question. Another one for you-who would set a reserve higher than $200,000 for this crap? Crazy.

resident artist... heck i could take a rusty ice pick and make them look that good. if i ever saw these live i would still be going to therapy 2 or 3 times a week. maybe a nice fire would make them look ok... oh wait... that would destroy the original plate that was used in Loretta Lynn's Crisco Commercials. Wow now that is a nice artifact http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif

Anyone remember the old B-movie with Chuck Connors as the crazy roadside attraction owner who traps some teens passing through? I think it was called Tourist Trap, and it was chock full of figures that looked just like these. Pretty creepy stuff. When you can make friendly old Willie Nelson look scary, you've outdone yourself. Frank

I wonder if these weren't bought from another wax work place and converted to the current crazy unliknesses. I think that may be a new word but I think it fits. John

I welcome an open discussion on this, but I'd ask everyone to please refrain from posting borrowed images from other web sites that have no relevance to a mandolin web site. Place a link to them instead.

We had a discussion on non-mandolin related images sometime back but it'd be worth reviewing the posting guidelines (http://www.mandolincafe.net/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST&f=23&t=13100) again unless you're absolutely sure they are understood.

The article is good - sorry to hear that the Hank Williams Jr. Museum is closed. I saw "the car Hank died in" there, as well as Bocephus' combination gun rack/automatic bar, which every American home needs...
