So, I'm finally upgrading from the $39 Rogue. I just bought this off a budding luthier in Ohio. I know it's not your traditional mandolin, but the price was right, and I'm very hopeful... It's an archtop, spruce on top and maple sides/bottom.

Hey! Nobody said it had to be traditional to sound good and be fun to play. It's gotta be better than the $39.95 special, so enjoy your new axe.
Congratulations on your new mando! That looks really good, very distinctive, and it's nice to see a budding luthier trying out some new ideas.
How does it sound?

I saw that one and it looked quite interesting for the price. Let us know how it is when you get it.

I too would love to know how it sounds. I only bought it a couple of days ago, and I'm waiting (anxiously) for its arrival. Maybe tomorrow...
His name is Neil Kraft, and he's been playing for about 20 years, if I recall correctly. He's pretty new to building, and this is his first arch-top.
