I bought this mandolin shortly after it was introduced along with 3,4,and 5 at NAMM summer 2002. I believe Bill Collings still owns #1. I think it's really exceptional, but having felt that way about every Collings mandolin I've ever played, maybe that's not the right word.
Hmmm, no laser burns in the F holes. I wonder if they hand cut yours?
My MT2 #82, made in 2001 has burn marks from the lasers.
