Chris, there is an open bluegrass jam at the Folly Beach Holiday Inn every Thur sponsored by the Folly Beach Bluegrass Society. The fun starts around 7:30. Chris, I know it's not Charleston, but if you are ever in Columbia on a Friday night there is a bluegrass jam at Bill's Music Shop.

I bet you need an air conditioner there in the summer, but Charleston is a lovely city, from what I can tell from my limited experience. That's high praise from a dyed-in-the-wool country boy like me.
