I thought I'd share some pictures of my new mando being build as Don shares them with me. He's been great to work with and I wanted to share the fun of watching this instrument come together.

Don Paine is a very talented guy. Your A is coming along rather nicely. Lp

Hiya, Redflag. Haven't seen any updates regarding your Pomeroy lately. How's it holding up?

Basically I was trying to replace my old Gibson A with something more playable but with the same tone and appearance. Hence the radiused neck and slightly narrower neck than a traditional A-2. Gonna be a pumpkin top when it's all said and done. Don's got an eye for good looking wood...I think I'm going to get a Jame's tailpiece on here. I couldn't be happier with the progress or with working with Don.

I didn't mean to make this a cliff hanger. I've been enjoying my new mando so much I haven't had time to post the final pics. I see what I can do about a sound clip as well.
Much thanks to Mr. Paine for the great job he did. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Don and his mandolins; he captured exactly what I was asking for.

Beautiful mando, Jeff - I really like the gloss finish. As the happy owner of #75 - also an A2 - I am continually impressed with it's deep, rich, full-bodied tone. Much louder than my '23 snakehead. Best "bang for the buck" out there, imo. I recommend trying out the "fossilized" bone saddle - I had Don send me both (ebony and bone), and now much prefer the bone. Congrats!

I'm in the midst of the two-point now. Here's a pic, and there are more in the show a picture of your mandolin forum.
