I went with a friend, wife and daughter to the Country Music Museum. I have encluded some pictures of note. The first is an early mandolin used by Ricky Skaggs.

Just got back from Nashville yesterday. Could you believe what happened to Bill Monroe's mandolin and Gibson putting it back together? that's amazing. Did you go to the opry house? There was a really nice statue of Bill Monroe there.

We visited between last Christmas and New Years. #I stood in front of that mandolin for awhile . . . nearly as long as I stood in front of the exhibit on George Jones. #Wow! What a great museum, I'd go back in a skinny minute. #Next time I want to take the recording studio tour.

it'd be nice if they had the bluegrass boys station wagon from that picture of the bluegrass "dream team" with monroe standing outside and the rest of them leaning out of the car

Could that be the same mandolin Ricky Skaggs played with Flatt and Scruggs?

See the videos at http://www.mandotunes.com/mandovideos/index.php

That's Ricky's mid 50's A40N. After that he got his 60's red A5 round hole. The Gram Parsons Nudie suit was last seen on the Manuel Tour. The Chris Hillman Burrito Nudie suit also on Tour from the Gene Autry Museum. The pitiful shame about the CMHF is they have more rare vintage instruments in storage then they do on display. Lots of wasted floor space in the new place.

I never knew Bill was related to the other famous Monroe! Wow, that was news to me.
