I have a aquired a portable phonograph that is a portable model with 78 records inside. It is leather covered, crank and wind, similar to an Edison model. I cannot find any information about its origins, with the exception of Lyon & Healy embossed in gold leaf inside of it. Any help would be appreciated. (meandsindy@comcast.net)Thanks for any help

Lyon and Healy was a huge full-service music store in Chicago. They sold every imaginable instrument, sheet music, phonographs and records, you name it. Their motto was "Everything in music." They are currently back to what they began with: making concert harps.

Sounds like one of the std Victor portable players. L&H was a Victor outlet.

I am sure that there are sites that deal with old recordings and players. Maybe start here (http://78rpmrecord.com/).

Good luck,
Jim
