The files are still up at the Yahoo! Group site.

Now, there is a download limit at Yahoo! that will prevent too many people from getting it from there. That's why - in his infinite wisdom - Mandolin Project Czar Craig started the page at http://www.mandolinproject.150m.com

Czar Craig picks up all our files from Yahoo! and transfers them over to the group page - to which only he holds the password.

Furthermore, I think Craig lives in Ireland, so he may be sleeping, forcing us to wait patiently for him to move the files to the main project page.

Everytime I'm faced with any of those *computer things*, I count backwards from ten, and remind myself that a mandolin does not require any 'operating system', or 'extension files', etc.

I did manage to get the files from Yahoo! ... and they sound great! Very cool flavors going on ... I'm a big fan of 7/8!

sorry benig, I am a little slow on my comprehension this morning, yOU did find my filess ok, and them going over to mandoproject is pending craig's schedule and liking... #he did say there was some copywright issues ..... but these are me, and I dont think thats even saying much you know... I m ok, but thats obviously not some awesome pro mandolinist. I think my windows medie does something where it copywrights all my stuff as unknown artist?

Even without knowing the steps, 7/8 is one of the most natural dance-meters: Just think of a three(quarter)-beat pattern, with the first beat elongated into a dotted quarter; that's where the small leap happens in the dance. What could be more natural than that?

I'm pretty familiar with it and seems easy like second nature, but its amazing I have met some good players who really struggle with it... I think if you are "into" it , you'll feel it..


when I taught the guys I am putting a band together with, I tried a few ways. vic's count, I tried 1234, abc... I made tapes for them to listen to and that worked..

I'm sorry, no, I meant the time it took for me to actually form a complete sentence. #Please forgive my neanderthal-like grasp of music terminology.

I just realized that this is the classical area, which I am entirely ignorant of. Usually when I log on, I just get the new posts, and saw this one. I like to hear other members play. Jeff, I did like that. I like listening to middle-eastern music also, but the "time" really isn't my cup of tea, but I admire and respect those that are able to produce sounds and music in other time signatures that sound "foreign"(for lack of a better word) to me. Yes, I admit, years of blues and R&R have completely bored 4/4 into my soul. So now I embark on a new adventure here. I'll have to listen for these things more often.
