on top is Mk2, my second mando (4th instrument)Below is the original.

Both Mahogany back, pine top, no tone bars solid rigel(ish) sides. #Mk2 has a bone nut from Bruce Wei, all the other bits are StewMac

Mk2 is Varnished, Mk1 is Danish oiled.

SO FAR Mk1 is louder and bassier, but then it's been played a lot more.

Mk2 will be in the post this morning to it's new home on the Wales/England border country. #I've started work on a guitar shaped mando, so when THAT's finished, Mk1 will be up for sale. #Sealed tenders please!!!

What are you using for pickups and how do they sound?

I'm working on a carved guitar shaped one and am thinking about electrifying it.

don't have pups in these at all.

the guitar shaped one will start with one of these bridges to see what it sounds/plays like then if it merits it I'm going to make a slotted bridge and drop a under saddle piezo in.

it'll mean drilling through he top, so i want to make sure it's OK first.

I suppose I could use one of Stewmacs piezo bridges, but they're alot more expensive than an ebay piezo

Martin,

Very nice!!! There is something that is so unique about your mandolins. If you have a few moments, please post an audio file so that we can here how it sounds.

Thank you for sharing http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

er, quieter and more trebley?

this may be due to the varnish, being newer or the bridge being nearer the soundhole because of the 14 rather than 12 fret neck join.

I dunno!!
