May I tap your collective expertise?
While cruising eBay, I found the following:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws....IT&rd=1 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7412304507&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1)
Forgetting the ugly color and the botched job on the nut and bridge, take a look at the photo which shows the back seperating. Note the edge-view of the top. Ignore (again) the side stain splattered onto the top, and am I seeing plywood? I swear there are 5 layers in that top. Has someone "repaired" an old Gibson by replacing the top with plywood?
Most of my experience with older instruments involves trying to make garage-sale guitars playable; I don't know from genuine vintage. But this whole deal sure looks odd to me, and the bidding is getting up there. What do you folks think?
