One day last week, my whole routine was thrown off...bad night's sleep, Dentist's appointment, needed to work through lunch to make up for the appointment, rock band practice scheduled on an odd day (no mando scheduled to be rehersed)...and I ended the day with no mando playing...

I can not remember the last time that happened...probably years ago...

has this happened to you? And what effects did it have on you?

i was in the hospital a few days, the only thing i really missed was my mando, made me appreciate it even more when i got out. my playing seemed more focused, maybe a few days days off done my playing good. thanks

Happens all the time and I never suffer any ill effects. #I own the mando ... not the other way around! # #http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I'm more fortunate to get a day where I can have uninterupted playing time on the mando between my wife's hectic evening and weekend schedule and play time with the kids. #As much as I love my mando collection I'm working harder on "opening up" my daughter and son. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

That doesn't mean I can't empathies with your problem. I hope you get your groove back quickly.

Guess I shouldn't let it bother me...I probably need to let that discipline thing calm down...

All the time!! It's called family and work. I've offered to quit my job, but,.... well.., not going over so well with the family. I'm still trying! Dan

It happens- I play the fiddle instead, or the banjo, or the guitar....but usually the mando gets in there somewhere if just for a tune.

still being new to the mando I try to steal a few minutes at the end of the day before bed, even if just to run a few scales or pickout a familiar melody. Not sure it makes me a better player but it does seem to relax me and help me get to sleep at the end of a hectic day. I have had runs of days where I don't touch the mando and when I finally get back to it it seems easier to play somehow. something about muscle memory I bet. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Oh wow, just this past week I injured my left hand and couldn't play mandolin for like five days. Going from four to eight hours of practice a day to zero like that was incredible. I hope that doesn't happen again.

I call this situation "life". I happy when I can get a day to practice.

I play every day too. In fact I need to put my mandoin in for some fret dressing and I am avoiding it because I knaow it will be in the shop for a few days or longer.

I can go a few days without my fiddle and I hardly play my guitar anymore but I go nuts without my mandolin! LOL!
