Wow. This sunburst really does it for me - I can see the sun, and I love how loooong it fades out toward the edges, like rippled water. It's from Gruhn's web site.

I can imagine that it is some dark amber colored, translucent material, and I'm holding it up to the sun...

It looks like the reflection of the setting sun on water.

Interestingly, in the 1930s at least for guitars like the L-00s, the sunburst got brighter and larger as the years progressed. I have seen early thirites guitars with tiny sunbursts and by the end of the decade they have widened considerably.

As far as sunbursts go, I'm not the biggest fan, but I really like this style. I've seen a similar shade on some mando tops that look great too. That is a beautiful piece of maple.
