Great looking, as usual, Mr. Ludewig. I espescially like the way the inlay and headstock shape work together.

Nice! I like the headstock and the inlays too, as well as the fingerrest. It looks like it needs careful layout to inlay all those letters individually.

Actually this one was almost done when the "unripened one" was finished. Then a friend decided he wanted this one and wanted it to match a Maybelle (sp?) guitar that he has a special fondness for.

Great design, Dale. #That headstock...hmmm...a little modification and some armor plating would make that perfect for uncapping beer bottles.

I like a pickguard/finger rest that stays clear of the oval hole. It just makes sense to me.

The armrest is yet another nice Ludewig embellishment, typical of his attention to player comfort. Love the virtual tangerine-burst back in the brighter light, too!

Greetings mando junkies... As the owner of said mandolin, I can say that it sounds great! Actually, incredible is more like it... Jethro would have loved this instrument!!
I've known Dale since about '68 or so, played much music with him in at least 3 different band configurations over the years, and have had the extreme good fortune and pleasure of playing all of his mandolins (except 2 A-models) in the white and then again when finished. I was on vacation when he did the 2 A's, and for some reason, he just couldn't wait for me to get back before he finished them... something to do with a customer, I think http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif
At any rate, having played all of his mandos, when I played his green 2-point oval hole (before it was green, even!), I was blown away... enough so that I ordered one!! I play a real mix of stuff, guitar (finger- & flat-picking), reso, lap steel (Hawaiian, country), and my mando stuff is likewise many styles (fiddle tunes, blues, bluegrass, jazzy stuff, etc.). I have a few old Slingerland and Maybell mandolins in my collection, but that oval hole pushed me over the edge!! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
Needless to say, I'm a fan of Dale's mandos.
So, I'm playing mando again, having not really done anything serious with it since about 25 yrs. ago, and it's a lot easier now. DK

Yes, Mr. Lane, one of my customers <g> and I had discussed earlier the possibilities of the color purple. But the last I knew, that color scheme was left for some future project. Very nice Dale. Love the quilted back. That's what mine is going to have. Also like how you cut out the pick gaurd to keep it from blocking the sound hole. Nicely Done.
