Todd philips loar

I just bought "The David Grisman Quintet" and I see that Todd Phillips '24 Loar looks like it solid black and it is listed as a '24 Loar Hart. what is the story.

on the original LP it says: (on loan)

Thanks Kudzu, that's what I seemed to remember but was not sure. I do not believe he does or ever did own one

was the loaned loar refineshed. it just wasn't colored like a loar.

The "on loan" Loar is still owned by the same fella in Berkeley & it isn't black.
All these years later, that album has stood the test of time & is a true classic. I was fortunate to be in the studio much of the time it was being recorded.
