View Full Version : Take Me Out to the Ball Game

The Baseball Season started last night. And while the boys of summer looked a little cold out there in Baltimore, I couldn't help but feel a little more joy in my life. I watched a couple of innings even though I dislike the American League and ignore it whenever possible since the advent of the DH. Baseball is baseball and a welcome sight to eyes that have been assualted by (American) football and dulled by basketball.

Anyway I feel like celebrating. So...

I am hoping someone has access to or knows where I can find mando-tab for "Take Me Out to the Ball Game." I'm interested in the full tune, including the verses. I know that Jethro and Don Stiernberg have both done version of this song, so I'm hoping my request is not beyond the pale.

I have checked the cafe, co-mando, and the comando email list archives and come up short.

Hoping someone can help me out.

Thanks!

Take me out to the ball game,
Take me out to the park,
Buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jacks®,
I don't care if I ever come back!

Now let's all root for the home team,
If they don't win it's a shame,
But it's ONE! TWO! THREE! strikes your out,
At the old ball game.

Sorry, no TAB here, but I bet y'all just sang along http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Correction, Benignus...

Hey...this is my bag...nothin' like a ball game! (Excuse my analness...) Ah! The simple things in life!

Take me out to the ballgame
Take me out to the crowd
Buy me some peanuts and crackerjacks
I don't care if I never get back

For it's root, root root for the home team
If they don't win it's a shame...
For it's one...two...three strikes your out!
At the ole...ball...game....

Life is too complicated... Take me out to the ballgame, man.. Yeah... On that I can relate... I go all the time to the wonderful rinky-dink minor-league stuff here... It's GREAT! I can talk to the players and everything! (I always bring my glove...in hopes of catching a fly...)

You wouldn't believe the fun we have (here in the neighborhood) with baseball... Right here in my backyard! They all come! Kids from 4 to ....??? 80. Backyard baseball...The ultimate of fun... Chicken-coop doubles...hittin' "Poppy" on the roof... Ahhh...Ya just gotta be here to understand... Ooops! Many a window we have broken... I dig baseball... I dig the simple things in life...

Somehere I have the chords by Don Stiernberg. 1 version is straight version another
jazzy. No tab. I wish I had my mando to confirm this so..

G on D string Take
G on E string (an octive higher) me
open E out
D on A string to
....more on A string. the ball game
When you do the 2nd part of this verse I think there is a Dsharp in there.

.....Ah, Just get Sam Bush's CD with it on it.

Yeah, but Benignus used the trademark on his "Cracker Jacks ®". #Cool... #http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif

Anybody else remember this classic play last Fall that doomed the Cubbies' fate in the 2003 World Series?...
