This wonderful website has revived my interest in playing mandolin, and coincidentally in finally looking for a new mandolin, after more than thirty years. #I currently play a bit of jazz, and am dabbling in a bit of choro and samba as well. #Playing classical is also a possibility, and all of this has me itching to try my fingers on something else than my battered and beloved no-name 1970's East German flat back mandolin. #The JP Charles instruments linked to the "Eye Candy" portion of this site look very interesting, with their interesting combination of carved tops and "bandolim" shape. #Anyone out there play one, and if so, what are your impressions of the instrument? #How difficult is it to get hold of one in the U.S.?

Thanks much in advance!

This one has been on the RF Charle (http://www.rfcharle.com/HTML/PhotosInstruments/Charles.html)(Paris) site for quite some time. I always liked the way it looked. Sort of take off on a the Kay Kraft style.
