Okay, I took a bit of a different twist on the IV electric mando kit. I wanted a punk rock mando for both Morris Dancing and some Irish music. The Morris demanded a Union Jack, but the Irish demanded that I shoot it full of holes. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
The bullet holes are actually those decals for your car. I cut the neck into the shattered look, painted the whole thing blue, and laminated a printout of the Union Jack onto the body and the pick guard.
It still needs a little setup, but it sure looks cool!

I think you have set the bar, for the IV electric kit, very high. That looks GREAT. Thanks for the photo.

Cool! How much is the electric kit? What do you have to do to it? Just bolt on the neck and finish it? My Telecaster would love a little brother like that.

The kits are $125 from International Violin (although we are told that they are on order for now) and very easy to build. Set up is a little harder, but not much. I used a bone nut and lowered the action a little, but out of the box it is a nice instrument.

I would put my woodworking skills at about a 3 on a scale of 1-10, and I found the kit very easy. As for the back, it's the same blue as the neck, headstock and body. I did put a small Union Jack on the back of the headstock, since there was a large blank area where the bullet hole is on the front.
It's really fun to play this thing through my old DOD GS30 multi-effects box - chorus, wah-wah, reverb, delay, doubling, etc. Heavy metal celtic mando! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
My wife is just glad I have decent headphones.
In actuality, I'm thinking of buying a small headphone amp and using the electric to learn tunes at work during my lunch hour.
