Okay, I'm looking for photos of mandolins that have a non-traditional color scheme. Anything except the plain-ole burst that you see on just about every mandolin. I want to see black-tops, whiskey-colored mandos, and more.

I need to make some better pictures. This one doesn't really capture the subtle way the finish enhances the grain on the top. There is no sunburst at all but it is a stunning look with the high gloss.

It has a wonderful tone but volume is still building as it opens up. It seems to me this Weber (a tone bar model) is a sleeper. When I first take it out of the case it sounds okay, yet after an hour or so of playing there is a noticeable increasing richness to the tone and increased volume. I am hoping it will continue to open up so that I have that sound all the time.

Would any of you Weber owners care to comment on this? Did yours open up over time? This is my first Weber.

Being a child of the Sixties your mando reminds me of the Kustom naugahide amplifiers we used to have. Very nice. What was your inspiration to do such an unusual finish?

What was your inspiration to do such an unusual finish?

I don't guess I'm a typical bluegrass mandolin fan; I got introduced to the instrument when I saw Cary Pierce from Jackopierce play a version of a song called "Vineyard" rearranged for mandolin. #His main guitar has a metalic blue paintjob, so somehow in my mind I think I inextricably link mandolin -> Vineyard -> Jackopierce -> metallic blue. #
