Just finished a nice 2 point that you might enjoy seeing. It has 100 year old red spruce, oil varnish, satin.
The back. I say rare because I make mostly F's.

Wow wow wow. I really love the back on that one. The headstock design is really unique. But I love the pickguard the most--very cool. Personally, I don't usually care much for two points. I make a definite exception to that here. VERY pleasant lines for my eyes.

That shouldn't be a rare instrument, you should make more.
Is there much difference in construction time with no scroll to deal with?
One of the nicest 2 points I've seen and would like to try one.
Yes, it's alot easier to make. THat scroll can really hold things up. THanks.

Exceptional looking finish, very nice indeed. How would you describe the sound of that mandolin?
I would say it is woody sounding already with wonderful depth on the G and D strings at the same time meaty E and A strings. It has plenty of power on the chop. John Rigsby played it here at my shop last night and agreed with all these qualities.

Ken - I know you're at SPBGMA this weekend, but did you take this one and the distressed one to Nashville with you?
If so, I'd be surprised if you came BACK with them - unless you were commissioned to craft them for someone else and couldn't sell them there!

Yes, I, had it there. It sure is a nice sounding mando. It has the 100 year old red spruce, beautiful one piece back and satin oil. John Rigsby said it plays like a dream. He also said that the distressed with the painting was the best mandolin he has ever played. I think it is the deepest one I've made, I know that. thanks.
