Hi all,

me and my girlfriend want to tackle some songs together. My girlfriend will be singing and play ukulele, I will be playing guitar or mandolin.

She has a clear voice and takes classical singing lessons, so she doesn't have much affinity with the entire old-time repertoire. She likes the songs that are sung in what we at hoe call the "English singing tradition". Does that make sense?

anyhow, we were looking for suggestions of songs to sing.

Any help will be most welcome.

Brst!

Check out some Norman and Nancy Blake. Great old songs and harmonies.

Tim Obrien has some good songs and some are sung as duets w/females. "What Does The White Sea Say" and "Wagoner's Lad" are a couple of duets. "Pretty Fair Maid", "Foreign Lander" would be also be good duets. They're nice trad. songs.

Get some Kate Rusby, too. Beautiful voice.
