Just saw the new as yet unnamed model on the Rigel website. What's the story with that?

Love the shape, colour and understated satin finish - not fond of the plasticky looking high gloss finish of most of the Rigels; they do sound wonderful though.

It's amazing how a simple variation on the lap point can totally change it aesthetically - I love it!

If it's priced somewhere around A+ and q95 mark I'll be tempted.

Looks cool, but the point looks uncomforable as a lap point, and I'd be concerned about breakage or finish chips in the point area.

Disclaimer: This may be mando-envy speaking, not considered opinion. Writer wants one.

Peace, Mooh.

Nice, I seem to recall them doing something similar for Jimmy Gaudreau's signature model - it's kind of reminiscent of my Arrow G-style. Yay for asymmetry!

My first thought was the Arrow G style also...looks nice and I think it would out sell the visually unappealing Q (to my eye) It has a much better flow...I want a purple one with a teal pickguard! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/blues.gif

Looks like a Q95 with f-holes for folks who are not allowed sharp objects http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I really dig the body shape. I would only ask that it have either a modified oval hole or those cool soundholes like on the stealth Brentrup up in the post a picture section. I know Hans didn't invent that shape but that's the recent one I've seen (apologies to the original designer).

Looks a whole lot like the Corrado Giacomel mandolin that is shown on the Tim O'Brien homepage.

Or go to their website for more models and pics of these odd shaped mandolins.

i think hans' overall design is more balanced looking aesthetically and the one he made as a prototype sounds like a monster now with a few more months of playing on it.

Rigel has decided on a name for the new model: the Comet.

And I have an oval-hole, tobacco burst, satin-finish Comet for sale. It's available via the Classifieds or on emando.com.

You're gonna love it!
