Hi everybody, I'm new here. I'm hoping to take part in next month's tune which I'm hoping will be Fishers but I've been starting on Cherokee as well. I have been playing flatpick guitar for years and am thinking of taking on the mandolin. Are there other guitar players here? This whole project is a great idea. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif

cam,

as you can hear in some of the recordings, there is guitar. #a few of the pickers here did both guitar and mando on their recording (i.e. Benignus). #so, WELCOME!

everyone,

forgot to mention that i went to flatpickin.com (http://www.flatpickin.com) and invited guitar pickers to join in. #thought it would be fun to hear what they record, too.

happy pickin'

That's a good idea, Craig.
Welcome, Cam! This is sure a great idea. I haven't had this motivation for a very long time. There are lots of guitar players here, it seems like most people have switched from guitar to mandolin. I did myself too, just that I didn't play the guitar for more than a year or so, and now I don't even own a guitar.

There are many guitar players on the Cafe'. I played guitar for 20 years before taking up the mando and still have a Martin 000-15S, which I really like. For the last 12 years, though, my interest in mandolin has completely overshadowed my interest in guitar and also my interest in harmonica, my other instrument. Mandos are addictive!
