Recently a very nice A mandolin came into my possession. On the headstock it says Maya Artist and on the inside it has Made by Tahara. Does anyone have any information on this mandolin for me? Thanks in advance http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

What a BEAUTIFUL machine! - Not to worry, it's early on in some parts of the country - Someone on the CAFE will answer your inquiry. Sorry I can't be of help. Moose. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/blues.gif

Made in Japan. Very nice-looking copy of a Martin Style A. Even has a D-28 zipper. Good on you.

Olde Time Pickin' Parlor had one here (http://www.picknparlor.com/tahara_mando.html). I assume it is sold since I don't see it in the listings.

Given what looks like a rosewood back, I might be prone to call it a Martin style B knock off. ...But I agree, it does look nice.

You rite, rosewood would make it a B. But the zipper detail is a bit odd.
