Granted, we are all here because of our love for the mandolin. Most are works of art with their beautiful scroll works and eye catching finish. The first thing that usually draws most people to that special mandolin is the way it looks.

But, not all mandolins have that eye catching appeal. Some are just butt ugly.

We've all seen pics of those beautiful works of art here in the past, now lets see some pics of those UGLY mandolins.

Frankly, I've seen plenty of ugly mandolins posted here at the Cafe (unfortunately each owner thought it was the most beautiful mandolin ever).
That being said, I'll shut my mouth on this one.

At first, I thought that was a Photoshop concoction. Then it slowly set in that it was real!

But can we all agree that this teal mandoline is a tad bit on the gaudi side?...

mandolooter,
That looks like something a prisoner might make out of match-sticks or something! A dog's tongue must have been the inspiration for the scroll.

I got that shot from Marc Silber's "used mandolins" page...it can be yours for a measly $400.00 but ya better be quick, I see a line forming.... http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

It definitly deserves to be in the "post a pic of your scroll" thread.

Jim, I like that thing!
