Can someone tell me the difference between the F5L and the F12 Gibsons. I found a person who has both of them for sale. They were built in the early 70s.
He's asking $2000 for the F12 and $2500 for the F5L.
Appreciate any response.

I believe the F-12 has the fretboard attached flush with the body. I'm sure they are other differences.

If you buy one, take the F-5...I didn`t know they make an F-5L in the early 70`s..The 12`s don`t have as fancy inlays as the 5`s and the ones I remember had rosewood fingerboards but in the `70`s the 12 changed somewhat from the one I had in the 50`s...and they were dogs...just my opinion but thats what you asked for...Willie

The 70's were not the best of years for Gibson, or at least not for the buying public.

I've seen F12's that sounded good. Several of them. I think I would buy the "L" they were made starting in the late 70's. but play them both you might be suprised.
